Missoula Community Theatre (MCT) held their production of Mamma Mia from April 30 to May 17, 2026. Their performance was highly entertaining and such a fun overall experience. The storyline of the Mamma Mia musical is created using the music of the Sweden pop group ABBA, bringing a disco-pop dance party to the stage.
The story takes place on a mythical Greek island during the week of 20-year-old Sophie’s wedding to her fiance Sky. In an attempt to find her true dad, she secretly invites three possible biological fathers, Sam, Bill, and Harry, to the wedding who had past relationships with her mother, Donna.
As Sophie and Sky’s wedding draws nearer, she spends time with each potential father in attempts to discover the truth. However, right before the wedding starts, Sophie decides it doesn’t matter who the biological father is, declaring all three men as her dads.
Sophie then decides to call off the wedding believing she and Sky are rushing into things and have more life to live before settling down. Then, surprisingly, the wedding shifts when Sam, one of Donna’s past lovers, proposes to Donna, ending with a full cast dance party.
MCT did an amazing job bringing Mamma Mia to their stage. The casting was absolutely perfect and each cast member was extremely talented. Actors included Petrea Torma (playing Donna), Megan Lill Gran (playing Rosie), Colleen Rosbarsky (playing Tanya), Alexandria Sanders (playing Sophie), Chloe Kearns (playing Ali), Kelsie LaRocque (playing Lisa), James Lanman (playing Sam), Adrian Adams (playing Bill), Nathan Poukish (playing Harry), Isaac Woldtvedt (playing Sky), Eli Favro (playing Pepper), and Elijah Miller (playing Eddie).
And do not forget the incredibly talented ensemble members which took on singing, dancing, and acting, all at once. The ensemble included 17 members who acted as party guests and townspeople throughout the musical. The choreography by Alissa Tucker was very entertaining and visually elevated the performance with high energy dance routines showcasing the cast’s range and abilities.
I loved all of the costuming, especially Donna and her two friend’s costumes which they wore when they would perform their girl group songs. They had full length sequined flared leg body suits which caught the stage lights perfectly and really highlighted them. All costumes perfectly fit the Mamma Mia aesthetic and highlighted characters’ individuality.
The set design was also so beautiful and very intricate. The large Greek style buildings offered a wide variety of levels, entrances, and exits for the actors to use including working windows, staircases, doors, and platforms. It truly looked like a seaside town straight from Greece, helping immerse the audience further into the storyline!
Though MCT never fails in entertaining an audience, they really outdid themselves with their production of Mamma Mia the musical bringing all the energy, comedy, emotions, dancing, singing, and crowd involvement.
I would give this performance 5 out of 5 stars and would highly recommend anyone who didn’t get the chance to see this musical to catch upcoming Missoula Community Theatre productions this fall. MCT certainly will never fail to entertain.
