On Oct 24, 2025 Regretting You was released to theaters after having been a novel written by Colleen Hoover in 2019. The movie follows the story of a mother and daughter whose relationship is shaken after a sudden tragedy, which forces them to confront secrets and past grudges they have held with one another.
While Clara Grant, played by Mckenna Grace, and her mother Morgan Grant, played by Allison Williams, are struggling to fix the crack in their relationship, they are also faced with the challenge of trying to navigate new romantic connections.
I loved the movie. It wasn’t your typical romantic comedy, it had twists and turns for both good and bad. Everyone in the theatre was gasping, laughing and crying throughout the movie.
Miller Adams, played by Mason Thames, was Clara’s romantic interest. Throughout their first hangout to them dating seriously, their relationship was rather accurate to modern time.
The chemistry the two actors had made their romantic, sweet scenes more believable rather than just cheesy and overdone. While the couple did have a few problems they had to overcome together, Grace and Thames made each of their teenage characters’ emotions natural without over exaggerating.
The most powerful moments in the film came a lot from the scenes where Clara and Morgan were trying to understand each other and not being able to. The mother-daughter relationship ends up being exactly what they wanted, but the steps taken to get there were hard and accurately portrayed.
Overall the movie was great and I would watch it again, but the only complaint I have is that I wish the ending had less of an abrupt stop. I was expecting the movie to go more into depth on Clara and Miller’s relationship after they both are going off to college.
I would recommend the movie to anyone who enjoys a complex romantic comedy, and likes following emotional dramas.
