Theaters Re-Open After Closing Due to COVID-19

I think that we were all saddened to see theaters close down due to COVID earlier in the year. Good news to all the theater junkies out there: the theaters are back open! They are up and running and we’re here to inform you on all the news about theaters, from new movies to how things are running, which theaters you can enjoy and more!

The movies that are in theaters this week include: 42 (biography, PG-13, 2 hours 8 minutes), Sonic the Hedgehog (kids & family, PG, 1 hour 40 minutes), Words on Bathroom Walls (drama & romance, PG-13, 1 hour 51 minutes), Unhinged (mystery & thriller, R, 1 hour 30 minutes), The New Mutants (fantasy & horror, PG-13, 1 hour 34 minutes), Tenet (mystery & thriller, PG-13, 2 hours 30 minutes), The Broken Hearts Gallery (romance, PG-13, 1 hour 50 minutes). Some movies to look forward to are: DTF (Sept. 15), Sorority Secrets (Sept. 15), The Secrets We Keep (Sept. 16), Ten Minutes to Midnight (Sept. 17), Alone (Sept. 18), and The Nest (Sept. 18).

There are three theaters total in Missoula: The Roxy is located on Higgins, The AMC dine-in is on Brooks in The Southgate Mall, and the AMC classic is off of Mullan. If you are wanting to go for the classic movie experience with popcorn and candy, I suggest you go check out the AMC classic. If you are looking for a full dinner and cushioned reclining seat, the AMC dine-in is just the place for you. The Roxy theater is a very unique theater that doesn’t always show box office movies, instead opting for indie films, throwbacks, and more.

Due to COVID you will have to wear your mask inside movie theaters as well as any indoor public space. AMC will allow you to remove your mask while enjoying food or drinks. Please respect the social distancing rules inside of the theater as well as everywhere else. There will be reduced auditorium capacities to help with social distancing. The auditoriums are at 40% capacity or even less right now. The menu selection is simplified as well. This makes for shorter lines and quicker service. We still have to abide by the rules to try to prevent the spread of COVID. Even though nothing is “ideal” right now, at least we have movies to look forward to again and enjoy with family and friends.
