Another Simple Favor, is an Amazon Original that came out Mar. 7, 2025. It is the sequel to the 2018 film A Simple Favor. Both movies are considered comedy/thrillers and mysteries. Another Simple Favor follows Stephanie Smothers (Anna Kendrick) as she gets invited to her “best friend’s” wedding in Capri, Italy. The catch is, her best friend Emily Nelson (Blake Lively) has just gotten out of jail for the murder of her sister, Faith (also Blake Lively) and the attempted murder of Stephanie.
The movie is a good follow up to the first. It captures the vibes and feel of the last movie very well and keeps the mystery. I never really was able to fully tell where the movie was going and there were some twists that were very surprising, though that could have been possibly due to the fact that I hadn’t watched the first movie in a while.
The filming of the movie was also very good. The movie was filmed on location in Capri and that is very clear to the viewers. It is full of gorgeous drone shots and beautiful scenery, which really immerses the audience into the story.
The acting was just alright. Kendrick absolutely carries the movie, she is hilarious and is 100% the most entertaining part of the movie. She kept my interest even when the movie was kind of going off the rails. Lively does a decent job, she is a pretty believable character and her interactions with Kendrick feel real and are the best parts of the movie.

Lively also does a good job of playing separate characters, she plays a third sister, Charity, that was thought to have died before either movie took place. That was her best acting, she made the characters seem like completely different people and did a good job of making them seem psychotic in different ways.
The CGI was decent. They did a good job of filming the scenes where Lively was interacting with herself and making it seem pretty believable. Though at the very end, a character is pushed off of a cliff, and the CGI of that was terrible. It didn’t look at all real, which could have been for comedic effect, but it missed the mark for me.
The plot was also a little bit crazy. It seemed like they had thought “what is the craziest thing we can do in this movie?” and just went with the first thing that came to mind. This made for it to be pretty entertaining, but kind of lacking substance.

Overall, it was a decent movie. Another Simple Favor is not peak cinema, it wasn’t the best movie to come out this year, but it might be worth the watch. If you enjoyed the first movie or are into comedy/thrillers, with a healthy amount of mystery, and a dash of incest (for some reason) than this might just be the movie for you.
