149 shows, 51 cities, 21 countries, and 632 days later, Taylor Swift has finally come to an end of her most recent world tour. The Eras Tour, where Swift ran through 44 to 46 songs from her entire discography for 3 hours and 15 minutes, was one of the biggest events you could go to between 2023 and 2024.
The Eras Tour started in March of 2023 in Arizona and ended in December 2024 in Vancouver, Canada. It was created because Swift had released several albums that she was unable to go on tour for (Lover, Evermore, Folklore, etc.), so she created a solution – she would tour with all of her albums together, hence the name. She travels through all of her “eras”.
The incredible thing about the Eras Tour is that it is so big. When it is in a city, the entire place changes in honor of it. There are lights put up, stores having specials, even name changes; the entire city is buzzing with excitement.
The concert is absolutely incredible to watch as well. Starting off with a 20-30 minute performance from an opener, ranging from Gracie Abrams and Sabrina Carpenter to Paramore and Phoebe Bridgers. The openers all are incredible and start the show off really strong.
Then after a 45-minute break, the show really starts. It opens with “Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince”, which has a really great lead in and has the lyric, “It’s been a long time coming, but/it’s you and me, that’s my whole world,” as the first thing you hear, which really speaks to Swift’s feelings about the tour and her fans.
She then proceeds to run through her discography, she goes through each of her eras (except Taylor Swift) and plays 1-3 songs from each. Originally, she went through nine eras, but halfway through her tour she released The Tortured Poets Department, which was quickly included in the tour.
She has a set tracklist with all of the songs from her eras, but towards the end of each show she surprises each audience with two surprise songs. They consist of her playing the guitar and piano, respectively, and playing a non-tracklist song or mashup. The final night in Vancouver she played a mashup of “A Place in This World” and “New Romantics” on guitar, and “Long Live”, “New Year’s Day”, and “The Manuscript” on piano. All five of these songs have deep meanings to Swift and her entire fanbase, making them heartfelt and bittersweet.
The entire tour was an absolutely incredible experience, that more than 10 million fans were able to attend. Swift is arguably one of the best performers of our time, and her Eras Tour really proved why she is deserving of that title.
