Missoula has seen an increase in the concert scene this year. Missoula had big artists, P!NK, Tyler Childers, and PearlJam perform at the Washington-Grizzly Stadium for a three-concert series.
P!NK put on a great show with openers Sheryl Crow, The Script, and KidCutUp!. P!NK took the stage with a clear emphasis on performance – the stage was covered in colorful props.
P!NK flew across the audience using an acrobatic rig doing flips while performing some of her crowd favorites. The entire crowd was covered in pink clothing, some fans created their own intricate costumes. It was a great concert atmosphere and she went above and beyond for her performance, even setting off fireworks during the show.
Tyler Childers had a more relaxed performance. He focused on showcasing his voice. Childers performed some of his biggest hits but refused to play one of his absolute fan favorites ‘Feathered Indians’. Even so, his show was amazing.
Childers lit up the Washington Grizzly Stadium with a detailed drone show. The drones changed shapes between a firework pattern to a chicken and even a donkey. The screens behind the stage displayed different videos for each song to fit the overall theme.
Childers brought out special guest Lukas Nelson to perform as a tribute to Nelson’s father Willie Nelson. They shocked the crowd making it a truly memorable performance.
Pearl Jam didn’t fall short of any expectations either. They have played in Missoula in the past and have never failed to make a lasting impression. With a sold out stadium, the line to enter the stadium reached about three blocks long.
Pearl Jam used the concert as an opportunity to endorse Jon Tester for Montanas U.S senate. The band made it very clear on their stance and encouraged the audience to go out and vote.
Pearl Jam played some-what psychedelic visuals on the screens around and behind them, the sequence blended seamlessly with the music. The intense bass made the entire stadium vibrate beneath your feet. The band created a perfect immersive experience. Pearl Jam did not disappoint and lived up to the expectations they have set in the past.
This three-concert series has truly raised the expectations for Missoula’s concert scene and has proved that the Washington-Grizzly Stadium is an excellent concert venue.
