With the upcoming 2024-2025 school year comes new student elected officials. Senior class president is Stella Harberd and Senior class vice president is Margot Pence. Junior class president is Gus Darty and vice president Leo Westemfelder. Sophomore class president is Cecilia Spencer and vice president Jack Pew. Student body president is Faith You and student body vice president is Maizy Miller.
Senior class president Stella Harberd feels very excited and honored to be the senior class president. “I am thrilled to carry out senior traditions while creating new memorable experiences that everyone can enjoy, by implementing new ideas from the student body that promote positive change and excellence throughout Hellgate High School. Thank you class of 2025 for putting your trust in me as I strive for an exceptional senior year.” Harberd said.
Harberd plans to listen to her fellow students and implement any feedback that she receives. She would also like to create a more unified school and help strengthen Hellgates community. “A united school allows all students’ ideas to be fostered and feel heard. As senior class president I will strive to create opportunities throughout the school that grow collective strength and companionship between everyone.” Harberd said.
Junior class president Gus Darty is hoping to accommodate students’ needs regardless of how they might change throughout the school year as well as providing a fun year for everyone. “While there are events that I am very excited to put together for you guys, but we’ll keep those a secret and I’ll focus on my goals to fix problems and voice the public opinion as it comes to me.” Darty said.
Darty believes that Hellgates spirit is strong and wants to maintain that in the fall. “While we are all different with our friends, hobbies, and strengths, we are also all knights. I wouldn’t change this for anything. The only thing that I would change would be to help our knights glow a little bit brighter.” Darty said.
Cecilia Spencer sophomore class president has big dreams for the upcoming year. “I want to work with our native american coordinators to get Salish language up in our school to continue to honor our land and acknowledgment.” Spencer said.
Spencer also wants to work to bring dances to hellgate. “I think it would be really cool if we can work with the administration and find a way to bring back school dances,” Spencer said.
Sophomore class vice president Jack pew is also excited to unite Hellgates students. “I would love to bring all of the grades together to create a more inclusive and welcoming environment at Hellgate as well as bringing some fundraising events as well.” Pew said.
Student body president Faith You wants to work her hardest to fulfill the goals and expectations of the student body. “My goals next year are to increase student body membership, increase involvement of everyone in school-wide activities, and to have Hellgate connect with the community on a greater level. Our students are phenomenal, and I have no doubt that we can create a positive impact within our bubble and beyond. I think it’s going to boil down to how well our officers are willing to work together and how willing our student body is to participate and help.” You said.
