The 2024 Masters took place this year from April 11-14 at Augusta National Golf Course, in Augusta, Georgia. This year had a surprising turnout where 5-time winner Tiger Woods placed dead last of the scored members, at +16. On the other side, the winner was American Scottie Scheffler who got an impressive -11. In second place Ludvig Aberg from Sweden got -7.
Scheffler won his second Masters this year, the first one being in 2022. This is a feat that only 17 other people in the world can say they have done. Scheffler has been placed #1 in the world since his 2022 Masters win. On the contrary Aberg had gotten second on his debut at the Masters, which is an incredibly impressive feat.
Max Homa and Collin Moriwaka, both from America, tied for 3rd place along with Tommy Fleetwood from the United Kingdom.
Tiger Woods set another record at this year’s Masters, when he made the cut for the 24th time, but he was cleary outmatched by some of the younger contestants, as he shot his personal worst during his 3rd round. On Sunday he teed off, commencing his 100th Masters round.
Scheffler won a whopping 3.6 millions dollars this year as well as the traditional green jacket. The purse or prize pool had jumped 2 million dollars as well. The remainder of the 20 million that does not go to Scheffler was split between the remaining 50 contestants, depending on their individual scoring.
