As we all know, this year hasn’t been a great snow year for those of us who like to take advantage of Montana’s normally amazing skiing and snowboarding. To bring a little positivity to the sport, we asked Hellgate staff and students what their favorite part of ski season has been so far.
Gracie Schober, junior- I got all new gear this year, and I’ve just had more fun, if that makes sense.
Ben Bryant, sophomore- The park at Disco’s fire.
Leo Westenfelder, sophomore- I liked backcountry skiing at Mount Brown in Glacier. That’s really the only time I’ve been out.
Micah Jaffe, junior- Just being able to go skiing mainly. Even though it’s been (bad), just going up and having fun with friends is the best part.
Quinnie Valliant, freshman- I’ve only gone once, but it hasn’t been super cold and I like the weather.
Johnny Ledyard- I’ve been lucky to go to Utah to ski with my son, and I’ve gotten six really good days of skiing down there. I feel really bad for the people who spent money on ski programs, but there’s a saying that I think applies to this ski season; “If you think the skiing sucks, it’s not the skiing that sucks.”
