Some people say that finding parking is the hardest part of going to school at Hellgate. I disagree, I think that the hardest part is trying to walk through the hallways in a timely manner.
If you wait until after the first bell rings it’s not too bad because the majority of the student body has started to head to class. The worst part of trying to get through the halls is trying to avoid the big clusters of people that form in the middle of the hallways when people stop to talk to each other in between classes or in the commons in the morning. Often people stop in the middle of the hallways causing unnecessary hallway hold-ups.
It seems like every year the traffic in the hallways gets worse. Just trying to cut across to one of the other many staircases, you’ll spend most of your time stuck in crowds of people. Actually going up the stairs is a completely different struggle. “Stairs can be really scary during passing, especially by Mrs. Archega’s room,” said one Hellgate student.
This has become a widely talked about issue around Hellgate. Many students also struggle getting from class to class because of slow walkers and clusters of people chatting in the halls. “People just don’t walk on the right side of the hallways. There’s always groups of people standing around or swimming upstream,” said another student.
Bathroom lines have also become unmanageable. “Using the bathroom is not realistic during the passing period,” said another student. You can’t use the bathroom without being late to class.
To keep Hellgate’s halls manageable and safe, in all honesty just be aware of yourself and the people around you. Let’s all try to be better with walking through the halls and not irritating our peers.
