Three Bales Home Supply is a cozy home goods shop located at 1425 S Higgins just before the big roundabout. Paige Ward, owner and shopkeeper of Three Bales, opened the shop in February 2021 with confidence that the shop would be loved and appreciated by the community, and so it was.
Since the opening of the shop, she has felt thoroughly welcomed into the community of small businesses in Missoula. “We are so lucky to have the breath of small businesses we have in Missoula. I feel so grateful for all the friends and people I have met through having Three Bales. I do think in our community, the mentality is ‘community over competition.’” Ward said.
Three Bales stands out from any other home store due to its mission of showcasing unique and special items. Ward said,“Three Bales really is a catalog of all the objects in [my] home that I deeply love, the ones that support small makers over mass-production, the ones that will last and become generational objects.”
Ward said it was her own personal goal to create a plastic free kitchen in her own home and wanted to extend that to Three Bales, “through that intentional process I realized I wanted my home to be composed of functional objects that had as much purpose as beauty.” With a background as a ceramicist, Ward especially appreciates objects that have as much purpose as they have beauty.
Ward said she found she hasn’t grown as an individual more than she has in the past three years. “It’s not just in the practical way like learning how to oversee financials or inventory management. It’s the part on how I live within my values as a person.” she said
The most popular product they sell is their hand blown glassware from Mexico. “They are this beautiful balance between handcraft and practicality that our customers look for. The maker behind the collection is a woman that stands out in the traditionally male-dominated craft of glassblowing.” Ward highlighted her appreciation that they can support makers like her through the store.
Three Bales Home Supply is open 10-5 Monday through Saturday. They also occupy an online store that you can browse through. If you want to hear more about events and such, you can sign up for their newsletter on their website.
