Fire On Ice Annual Event
Fire on Ice is a charity event that was held at Glacial Ice Rink, in Missoula on Feb. 4th for the Wildland firefighter foundation, and for the local Missoula firefighters association. At the event, the Wildland firefighters and the Missoula local firefighters go head- to- head to try and demolish and win the event. This event is free to go to, but there are silent auctions and a Chuck-A-Puck game. Chuck-A-Puck is where you buy a hockey puck and you toss it to try to make it into the set up targets to win a prize.
This charity event is a very fun way to get out of the house and take your family or your special someone to and it is completely free to attend to. There are many laughs that are shared. As the firefighters play hockey, some aren’t too good at it. There is, lots of falling and bumping into each other by accident, and the announcer Chris Johnson, CJ, tells funny jokes about the players and basically makes fun of them. There are food and snacks you could buy and snack on while you watch the game.
I recommend this game for you to go to next year. I mean it is free and you can leave at any time if you aren’t enjoying it. I do not recommend sitting in the front though, people are constantly walking in front of you and it doesn’t make the experience that enjoyable. I got there about 15 minutes before the game started and it was already pretty packed. So, if you can get there maybe 30 minutes before it starts so you could get good seats.
This event was really fun to go to and I plan on going again next year. I enjoyed that it was free, I brought my whole family to enjoy this experience with me. This was the 11th annual event. The money raised was to help firefighter families who lost their loved ones while they were on the job and for the firefighters who are injured. They raised $19,000, which was $6,000 more than last year. If you are interested in going next year visit Missoula Fire on Ice Hockey Game’s Facebook page for more information. See you next year!
