The Queen Of England Ends Her Reign at 96 Years Old

On Sept. 8, 2022 the U.K. lost its longest reigning Monarch, Queen Elizabeth II who made it 70 years on the throne, second in history only to Louis XIV with a 72 year reign.. Her first son Charles now reigns as King with his second wife Camilla the Duchess of Cornwall, taking the title of Queen Consort. After his first wife’s death, Diana Princess of Wales, in 1997 just a year after they divorced in 1996, Charles married Camilla eight years after, and they have been together ever since.

Queen Elizabeth II was born on April 21, 1926, and was married on November 20, 1947. The Queen was coordinated June 2, 1953 where she made the memorable promise, “Throughout all of my life and with all my heart I shall strive to be worthy of your trust. In this resolve I have my husband to support me. He shares all my ideals and all my affection for you.” Her statement has been a reminder for many years that she  is loyal to her kingdom. On Sept. 19, 2022 England held the funeral procession for Her Royal Highness in Windsor. The royal guards carried her coffin all through central London; she was laid to rest next to her husband Prince Phillip. It is estimated that there were around 2,000 guests gathered to say goodbye to Her Royal Majesty.

After King Charles, his son William is next in line, and after him is his son George. With the royal line of succession, the next future female ruler would be Charlotte Princess of Cambridge who is fourth in line for the throne. The King’s sister, the second oldest child of Queen Elizabeth, Princess Anne is 16th in line for the throne.

As the new Kings reign is solidified, all of the U.K. will mourn the loss of such an incredible ruler who has taken care of her kingdom for seven decades. For many people she is the only monarch they have ever known, and will be a monarch the world remembers for many generations to come.
