The Wordle Universe Ranked

Wordle, the word game where you guess a different five letter word everyday, is the newest obsession of everyone. With the success of Wordle, many variations have followed, creating the Wordle Universe. The Wordle Universe includes many games, even some that aren’t  word based. Variants include Absurdle, where the word of the day changes as you guess, Heardle, where you guess the song of the day through its intro, and Globle, where you guess the country of the day through a game of hot and cold on a globe. Along with these spin offs, several copycat Wordle apps have been created and put into app stores, where you can guess unlimited words every day.

The Wordle Universe grows each day, as people around the world come up with different variants and release them for our Wordle obsessed society. After playing these games everyday for about a week, I have come up with my ranking and review of each Wordle Variant. Here it is:

  1. Wordle.

You just can’t beat the original. Wordle is the perfect word game in my opinion,  it is so simple yet so great. The thrill of guessing that day’s word in 3 tries cannot be beat, except by getting the word in 2 tries. Wordle is popular for a reason, and has not gotten old, even after playing it every single day.

  1. Globle

I found this game through TikTok, after I had found Worldle, and was instantly hooked. Instead of a country shape, you play hot and cold on a globe to find a country, with red being very close, and shades of orange and beige being far away. Globle is a once a day game, and is both quick and a fun brain challenge. Even for the geographically challenged, Globle is a fun way to test your world knowledge.

  1. Heardle

Heardle is for music nerds. Everyday you try to guess a song based on its intro within 6 guesses. The concept of Heardle seems fairly easy, every song is different and so is its intro, right? But Heardle is not for the one genre type people. Songs can be from the last year or the last decade, and anywhere from country to heavy metal. Heardle is definitely in the top 3, but nowhere near as good as Globle or Wordle.

  1. Absurdle

Absurdle. It’s absurd. I’ve tried to understand how the game works several times but all I can get is that the word changes as you guess. Props to whoever came up with this idea and went through with it cause it’s the most frustrating game I’ve ever played, other than Papa’s Donuteria. I always give up while playing this game, but it’s amazing and always a fun challenge.

  1. Letterle

Letterle is the most basic, boring game ever. There’s a different letter each day and you get 26 guesses. It’s a random, pointless game that I play everyday because something about it is so fun. It’s probably the thrill of getting the answer, but it could also be the pointlessness of it. I come back to Letterle everyday to click my keyboard until one letter flashes green, and it’s amazing. Letterle is last on the list for obvious reasons, but it’s number one in my heart.
