Best Fall Activities Around Missoula

During the fall season there are many activities to do with your family, friends, or by yourself! Fall is the time of year when everyone is busy and in the midst of school. It’s a perfect time to take a break from school work and enjoy some fall activities. There are many fun things to do, such as carving pumpkins, watching movies, doing fun things with friends, and more.

Carving pumpkins is a fall classic for many. Amelia Fogarty said, “Carving pumpkins is fun but I never get too attached because the deer always end up eating them.” Living in Montana, we know that our pumpkins won’t last long outside because they are a favorite for the deer as well as us. Carving pumpkins is fun for some, but not for others who don’t like to get messy. Pulling the guts out of the pumpkin is not everyone’s forte.

Fall is the perfect time to cozy up and watch some scary movies during the spooky season. Fogarty explained, “Scary movies are not for me. I can’t sit still. It’s always too scary if I don’t have a friend with me.” Scary movies can be really fun, but they are certainly not for everyone. Ian Rasmussen, a junior at Hellgate, agreed with Fogarty. He said, “I like scary things like movies and field of screams but I get scared really easily so it’s kind of a win lose thing.”

Mia Jakob, a senior at Hellgate, said, “My favorite thing to do in the fall is hike and walk around Missoula looking at the beautiful colors of the trees.” Missoula is one of the best places to spend the fall season because of the plentiful colorful changing trees. The streets of the University District are always lit up with red, orange, and yellow leaves.

Rasmussen also agreed with Jakob. He said, “My favorite activities to do during fall are definitely golfing or hiking because the trees and everything look way better.” He continued, “I love carving pumpkins. I think it’s something that you need to do every year during fall at least once. It just sucks when the deer eat them off your porch.” He finished, “But in general, fall is definitely a top two season because the vibes are way better in the fall, and the fall colors are super cool. I love the fall.”

There are so many fun things to do during the fall season in Missoula. Whether it’s staying inside or going out, you can always find something to do. So make sure to enjoy the fall weather with your family and friends before the cold winter hits.
