Michael Bloomberg is a Billionaire Shill

Daniel Blackwell, Reporter

Michael Bloomberg, one of the current democratic front runners, is a racist, a quasi-republican, and a billionaire. Here’s why you shouldn’t support him.

Bloomberg is worth 61.8 billion dollars. That means that Bloomberg is worth 61,800 million dollars. This is important to consider when looking into his motives and reasons for running. He is one of the top ten richest people in the world according to  Forbes. Bloomberg claims to be a moderate liberal, which when put into practice really means that he is a milquetoast republican who would easily ‘compromise’ on republican policies and lobbying.

For an example of Bloomberg’s conservative tendencies, look to the recent audio clip of him defending stop and frisk policies in New York City when he was mayor. Saying in the context of why he supports stop-and-frisk,“One of the unintended consequences is people say, ‘Oh my God, you are arresting kids for marijuana. They’re all minorities.’” He went on to say, “Yes, that’s true. Why? Because we put all the cops in the minority neighborhoods. Yes, that’s true. Why do you do it? Because that’s where all the crime is.”

This statement is not only incredibly bigoted and short sighted in the sense that he claims that minorities simply commit more crime because they’re minorities, it also shows his lack of any empathy for minorities and his casual admittance of complacency of structural violence (in the form of police) toward people of color.

Another example of Bloomberg’s dirty past is the fact that he was a registered  republican in the office of mayor of New York for 13 years. Bloomberg was a republican until just 7 years ago, at which point he left the New York office of mayor. He has been practically running as the “liberal Donald Trump,” as he states that he can beat Trump with his “business experience.” This statement basically means nothing, and business experience should mean close to nothing for the average voter, when deciding who to choose as the next president.

There are also photos of Bloomberg and Trump golfing together, which shows his proximity to Trump, and coincidingly, his facade of hatred toward him.

In conclusion, Bloomberg is a quasi-republican billionaire who has a long and gross history of racism who follows a facade of hatred toward Trump. He is not a true democrat, and does not carry the views of the democratic party (as evident through his discriminatory policies in the past).
