High Hopes for Hellgate Girls Basketball Team

As you may know, basketball season is right around the corner for our Hellgate boys and girls basketball players. Last year, both teams made it to state. The boys finished second and the girls finished third. That raises the bar high for our athletes, so  here are some preseason thoughts.

Bailee Sayler, a sophomore who played varsity as a freshman, says, “Last year I think overall went a lot better than most of us anticipated.” No one really knew what was going to happen. Hellgate had a very young team, and they only lost three seniors, so they will have a young team this year as well, but they all know what to expect. Sayler said, “The three seniors last year brought a lot of energy and leadership, so I think this season we need to have leaders that bring that same energy and encouragement.” When the Knights made it to state it showed the strength, commitment, and love they put into the sport of basketball. Can they do it again this year?  “I mean the ultimate goal is a state (championship)” said Sayler.

Keke Davis, another sophomore at Hellgate playing varsity, said, “I’m so excited for the season and I’m so ready to get on the floor.” Along with Sayler, Davis would like to change the third place they took last year to first place this year. “I hope that all of our names are out for colleges to look at, and we become a closer family along with having fun and winning as a team,” Davis said.

The hopes are high for the Hellgate Knights girls basketball team this year, but they are willing to conquer the challenge.
